We are a St. Louis based team of artists that have worked together since 2006 on creative projects. After living in different parts of the world we are now reunited in our home, the Midwest. We aim to tell your story with a high level of craftsmanship, integrity, and passion.

Husband to a beautiful wife. Father of adorable twin boys and a sweet little girl. Decorated Iraq War veteran. Alex is passionate about filmmaking and loves to constantly explore and expand his craft. With a foundation of mass media production and communications, Alex brings technical knowledge and creative know-how to a project. He founded Focal Imaging on three guiding principles - a high level of craftsmanship in what we do, integrity with how we operate and tell a story, and passion for creating. Alex is an outdoors enthusiast.

Jeff Wilmes has more than 20 years experience as a director of photography and owns/operates Hang Loose Video. His work has taken him from Jamaica to Jerusalem. Jeff loves to travel and along the way he has gained a deep respect for the people he has met. Clients know firsthand how Jeff immerses himself in the stories he helps document. He has discovered it is the best way to understand the project and provide the visual support that provides emotion, clarity, and depth. He lives in the Shaw neighborhood with his wife and six active children.
SHELBY FOLEY

Since she was little, Shelby has had a deep interest in the world of visual arts. She carried that lifelong passion to college, where she attended Loyola University Chicago and graduated with a BA in Fine Art Photography and Creative Writing. She has since returned to her hometown of St. Louis but continues to travel wherever and whenever possible. A lover of all things nostalgia, Shelby has a gift for composition and capturing every single memory as it unfolds, weaving a unique story through visuals. When not behind the camera, she can be found hiking around, blasting disco tunes, or trying the latest new food spot in the city.

A self described lover of natural light and natural smiles, Erica has expanded her craft of professional photography into the videography landscape. Her artistic eye and knack for capturing detailed intimate moments has made her work highly sought after. When she is not working with Focal Imaging or her photography company, Lilylove Photography, she can be found exploring St. Louis with her husband and three beautiful children. Alex has had the honor to call Erica and her husband Adam friends for over 15 years.
